Bradford Rio's

The original Bradford Rio's was the main rock club in town. Up near the uni, it was a large venue that hosted a huge range of local and touring bands, and a weekly goth night in the second room. Eventually it closed, and for a while there was a similar Rio's venue in Leeds.

When Rio's returned to Bradford, they were based across three rooms of a large building on Barry Street, and we borrowed the top one once to host Carpe Noctum when the Zuu Bar suddenly closed.

The venue was later used briefly by Gasworks (and us) toward the end of 2013, and is currently being converted into a complex of alternative venues centred around the new Tavern in the Town pub.
